It's been a minute

It's Saturday. Last Saturday I went out with my girl Britany, it was bliss. Kareoke at Louie's until 2am, what a blast. But this weekend I have a chest cold and I believe she is on a date with a co-worker of mine, woo. So I came home, with a ride from O, and found my DH asleep on the couch. I guess after being eyed all afternoon I wanted a little more attention tonight.

I've been busy at work, of course. Graduation, Mother's Day, Easter just passed. I did some bunny repair for the Easter display.

Broke, but ...

It's been a busy week at the bakery, since the first of the month. I was able to do a couple of really custom cakes this week, and hopefully I'll have repeat customers! I made a couple wrap cakes, dipped strawberries and bunny cars for the gourmet case yesterday. I'm off today, and Seth called in to work, he wasn't feeling well this morning. We're spending the day being lazy and watching movies, starting with Toy Story III, then maybe a couple episodes of  Glee, i just started that show and it's great!! Then maybe we'll watch another couple movies before the day is over. I guess the only thing I really need to do today is play with the animals and load some of these pictures...

This customer bought all of the toys at a consignment sale and I designed Andy's bed from the first movie to accommodate them all!

A Coach purse design for 9 year old Allie. Metallic airbrush made the cake!!

My dianthus and mums after treated with Colorstar fertilizer. Amazing!

 Dipped strawberries

A wrap cake, before the chocolate wrap. My flower icing makes the roses look soo real.

 New, lemon curd petite fours.

First Week in April

I'm sitting here with Sadie Mack, my dog, on the floor next to a mountainous pile of laundry that needs to be folded. I went to my family doctor today and found out that a bump behind my ear is a subcutaneous cyst. It was inflamed a few days ago, almost twice the size it is now, but he gave me an antibiotic script so hopefully it goes away and he won't have to cut it out.

Here's a picture of me and Sadie:
Me and Bosola worked on the cookie bear together. The Toy Story cake was for a customer that was previously upset with a situation she was in with the head decorator. She spoke with my manager and the store managers about how reliable I have been with her orders and she wants to see to it that I get promoted or a raise! Or even, the head decorator fired....! She loved my work and is going to place another order on Friday.

A couple of "dinner cakes", and Sherry calls them, on 5" rounds. One chocolate cake with whipped caramel icing, peanuts, and mini Snickers candy with chocolate and caramel drizzle. The second is chocolate cake with whipped cookie & cream icing and Oreo cookie trim.

At the side of my house is an almost bare garden that I've been depriving of water. In the beds are barely-making-it Tulips, a now-blossoming purple Iris, and a sea of Day Lilly in the corner. Covering the bare ground are patches of weedy clover that blossomed nearly overnight.

The front beds of my place are surprisingly full of Dianthus and Pansies!! I didn't capture the very green mums growing along the other flowers, but they are also surprisingly verdant.

Well that's all for now. I have to make a run to the pharmacy and get my ear-bump to go down. Oh yea, and fold the laundry mountain.... Until next time?

Bad News, bad bad bad

When I worked with my friend Dar at the Bakery, she would cite all the time about how bad things happen in three, always in three: This, and then this and then that! In February I went off my medicine for one week, DH went to jail, and I cheated on him with a girlfriend in a drunken panic because I needed control... Currently, my husband went to the hospital for a terrible migraine last week, then was on suicide watch for a few days this weekend, and today we received legal notice about misdemeanor charges. Bullshit. Terrible, bad, bad, bad bullshit.

The good news, though, is that Hubby had a couple appointments today and there is going to be a lot of positive changes for him, mentally, and for him at work. And I've heard that positive things happen in tenfold!

I couldn't finish reading Hello Kitty Must Die by Angela Choi. Something about the antagonists sly references to death and roofies got under my skin, like that kind of scratch you can't reach. I returned the novel and checked out two Joyce Carol Oates and one health book on living with bipolar, written by Hilary Smith, who happens to have bipolar. I haven't put the paperback down since I picked it up at the library. It's intensely hilarious, and to the point, you have bipolar, it sucks, but it doesn't have to always suck. Hilary also has a lot of real-life scenarios and insightful advice to let your brain soak in, too.

Well it took me long enough to finish this bloggy-blog. I'm going to read a few more pages and fall asleep with my hubby.
